For those of you who don't know me.
Been on this planet for 41 years almost 42...Born in Stockholm, Sweden. Live in Stockholm and New York City. Worked with film and art and communication (advertising) since I was 20. I have had my ups and downs - as everyone else probably.
I decided to take on a challenge(Marathon des Sables) - to have a focus- something to control in the midst of a lot of personal change.
Everything was going fine to prepare for this race - then shit hit the fan. I twisted my ankle so bad I thought it was broken....I stopped training, I ate (my drug of choice) and I quickly slipped into darkness.....then I hurt my calf, tore a muscle....and then and then .....I've picked myself up, barely, with help from family, friends and professionals.
I am no longer running this race to be superfast and amazing. I am doing this race step by step and the goal is to get as far as I can, and be Awesome for doing that ;-)
I made my mind up long ago to do this adventure so I am doing it.
Since I am now somewhere in Morocco enduring Marathon des Sables...... I decided to go public and have a charity cause as well.
I am starting to take donations.....(I did not want to do this before I was actually under way on this physical and emotional journey.)
Or if you rather donate to your local sucide prevention - please do so. Just google suicide prevention in your country
Suicide is not a solution. It creates a whole new set of problems and chaos.
And so many suicides could be prevented with support, research, healthy diet and exercise (yes the most underestimated chemical regulator), medication(in some cases), understanding, de-stigmatizing of mental health issues, acceptance of differences(sexual orientation, religion, political views, physical appearance).....the list is long.....
As a survivor - my Mother died 2001 - I know the chaos it creates.
Thank you for your support.
The mind is a powerful tool - let's use it wisely.
The mind is a powerful tool - let's use it wisely.
Directly to the organizations:
The money will go to:
- pay off my plane ticket and entrance fee.
- equipment that is not sponsored (food, first aid kit, etc)
After that the money will go to Suicide Prevention work in US and Sweden.
Other support......cheer me on :-)
If you want to send me an email on my journey I can receive emails every evening when we stop at camp stops. I would really appreciate some words of encouragement.
